SotD: Ingrid Michaelson - “The Way I Am”

Posted by: Lilo Lale on: October 5, 2007

Fall is here. So the weather will get much cooler soon. Yay for that! But it also means time for new clothes. There’s an Old Navy commercial with sweaters in it that I love and plan to purchase one day. What does this have to do with the song of the day? Well, the song that plays throughout the commercial is pretty catchy too.

I had never heard of Ingrid Michaelson prior to the Old Navy commercials. Apparantely her songs have been in Grey’s Anatomy, but I don’t watch that show. I’ve listened to her samples on iTunes, and I think I will buy the album. Her sound is kind of simple and pure.

The Official Video

The Old Navy Commercial

Performance on Carson Daly

If you were falling, then I would catch you.
You need a light, I’d find a match.

Cuz I love the way you say good morning.
And you take me the way I am.

If you are chilly, here take my sweater.
Your head is aching, I’ll make it better.

Cuz I love the way you call me baby.
And you take me the way I am.

I’d buy you Rogaine when you start losing all your hair.
Sew on patches to all you tear.

Cuz I love you more than I could ever promise.
And you take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.

The lyrics for this song suck. Is that the best she could do?

Hmm.. Can you do better? The lyrics aren’t spectacular, but it’s more about the mood and message behind the song. Seriously though, can you do better?

You know the answer to that. :-p Why are we talking about this again?
