Musical Ladders

SotD: High School Musical 2 - Fabulous (Sharpay)

Posted by: Lilo Lale on: March 19, 2008

I was quite fond of High School Musical. HSM2 was OK. I like this song though. One of the better ones from the movie. I chose this song because well.. I want fabulous that is my simple request.. :-)

Is it so bad to want the finer things every now and then? There’s nothing wrong with having high expectations as long as you don’t go overboard (like Sharpay).

Sharpay:
Its out with the old and in with the new,
Goodbye clouds of Gray, hello skies of blue
A dip in the pool, a trip to the spa
Endless days in my chaise
The whole world according to moi
Excuse Me Thank You
Iced tea imported from England,
Lifeguards imported from Spain,
Towels imported from Turkey,
Turkey imported from Maine,

Sharpay and Ryan:
We’re gonna relax and renew,

Sharpay:
You, go, do!

I want fabulous,
That is my simple request,
All things fabulous,
Bigger and better and best,
I need something inspiring to help me get along,
I need a little fabulous is that so wrong?

Fetch me my jimmy choo flip flops,
Where is my pink prada tote?
I need my tiffany hair band,
And then I can go for a float.

Ryan and Sharpettes:
A summer like never before

Sharpay:
I want more!

Ryan and Sharpettes:
She wants fabulous,
That is her simple request,
All things fabulous,
Bigger and better and best,
She needs something inspiring to help her get along,
She needs a little fabulous is that so wrong?

Fabulous pool, fabulous splash,
Fabulous parties even fabulous trash,
Fabulous fashion, fabulous bling,
She’s got to have fabulous everything.

Ryan and Sharpay:
Nothing to Discuss
Everything’s got to be perfect.

Sharpay:
For me

Ryan:
She wants fabulous,
That is her simple request,
All things fabulous,
Bigger and better and best,
She needs something inspiring to help her get along,
She needs a little fabulous is that so wrong?

Sharpay:
This won’t do, that’s a bore,
That’s insulting, I need more!
I need, I need,
I need, I need,
I need, I need

I Need FABULOUS!

Sharpettes:
Fabulous Hair, fabulous style,
Fabulous eyes and that fabulous smile.

Sharpay:
I like what I see,
I like it a lot

Sharpettes:
Is this absolutely fabulous?

Ryan:
Fabulous, Fabulous, Fabulous?

Sharpay:
Absolutely… NOT!

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night!

Posted by: Lilo Lale on: March 17, 2008

I don’t know where to start regarding my weekend. In a nutshell it was filled with wind, cigarette smoke, dancing, and lots of text messaging. Waaay too much texting. Not by me though.

You see.. Saturday night, I got together with an old friend of mine from high school. I hadn’t hung out with her in over a year, and although we aren’t bffs or anything, she’s done a great job of staying in touch. So, I wanted to see her. I get there, and she’s sitting at a table with her girlfriend, their roommate, and some dude.

Well, I don’t know what the hell happened before I got there, but the mood was not great. Everyone was just sitting. At one point, my friend, her gf, and their roommate all pulled out their cell phones and were like texting for 5 minutes. I was thinking “What the hell?” I joked that I should’ve brought my cellphone in with me so I would fit in.

I knew I was going to have a good time Saturday night regardless though; so, I made friends with the young dude and danced with him all night. It was weird cause he couldn’t dance well. Not that I can, but ya know.. your rhythm should at least be synchronized with your partner’s. But I still had a blast. I danced like no one was watching.

I felt bad for my friend cause she hadn’t been out in a while and I don’t think she had as much fun as she wanted.

SotD: Abba - Dancing Queen

Posted by: Lilo Lale on: March 15, 2008

I secretly really like this song. I don’t know why. It reminds me of Muriel’s Wedding. I love that movie. Some time later this year or early next year, I’m taking dancing lessons.

You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen

Friday night and the lights are low
Looking out for the place to go
Where they play the right music, getting in the swing
You come in to look for a king
Anybody could be that guy
Night is young and the music’s high
With a bit of rock music, everything is fine
You’re in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance…

You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen

You’re a teaser, you turn ‘em on
Leave them burning and then you’re gone
Looking out for another, anyone will do
You’re in the mood for a dance
And when you get the chance…

You are the Dancing Queen, young and sweet, only seventeen
Dancing Queen, feel the beat from the tambourine
You can dance, you can jive, having the time of your life
See that girl, watch that scene, dig in the Dancing Queen

SotD: Hilary Duff - So Yesterday

Posted by: Lilo Lale on: March 14, 2008

I don’t know why I like Hilary Duff so much. I think it’s kind of a little sister thing carrying over from her Lizzie McGuire days. I loved that show.

I chose this song because there is a relationship (non-romantic) that I’m kind of over right now. It’s annoying. I’ll write more later (tonight or tomorrow).

(So yesterday)
(So yesterday)
(So yesterday)

You can change your life
(If you wanna)
You can change your clothes
(If you wanna)
If you change your mind
Well, that’s the way it goes

But I’m gonna keep your jeans
And your old black hat
(Cause I wanna)
They look good on me
You’re never gonna get them back
At least not today, not today
Not today cause

If it’s over, let it go and
Come tomorrow it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
I’m just a bird that’s already flown away
Laugh it off and let it go and
When you wake up it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
Haven’t you heard that I’m gonna be okay

Ha, okay

You can say you’re bored
(If you wanna)
You could act real tough
(If you wanna)
You could say you’re torn
But I’ve heard enough

Thank you
You’ve made my mind up for me
When you started to ignore me
Do you see a single tear
It isn’t gonna happen here

At least not today, not today
Not today cause

If it’s over, let it go and
Come tomorrow it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
I’m just a bird that’s already flown away
Laugh it off and let it go and
When you wake up it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
Haven’t you heard that I’m gonna be okay

If you’re over me
I’m already over you
If it’s all been done
What is left to do
How can you hang up
If the line is dead
If you wanna walk
I’m a step ahead
If you’re moving on
I’m already gone
If the light is off
Then it isn’t on

At least not today, not today
Not today cause

If it’s over, let it go and
Come tomorrow it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
I’m just a bird that’s already flown away
Laugh it off and let it go and
When you wake up it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
Haven’t you heard, you’re so (yesterday)

If it’s over, let it go and
Come tomorrow it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
I’m just a bird that’s already flown away
Laugh it off and let it go and
When you wake up it will seem
So yesterday, so yesterday
Haven’t you heard that I’m gonna be okay

SotD: Trina featuring Christina Milian - Single Again

Posted by: Lilo Lale on: March 11, 2008

Sorry, kiddies. No video, but you can listen to the song and look at pictures. I love Christina Milian. She’s really pretty.

Yep, yep, yep
I’m back, im back
Slip n slide records, slip n slide records
Ya, ya, ya, ya, ya
[laughing]

[Chorus:]
I’m single again,
Back on the prowl,
I thought it was perfect,
I don’t know how,
I’m single again,
Back on the prowl,
I thought it was perfect,
I don’t know how,
I’m single again.

[Verse 1:]
You know how they do,
How they act,
See you wit another man and they want you back,
[woot woot]
My ass still fat,
[woot woot]
They still checkin for me,
And never will you find another bitch like me,
And I don’t care what your friends say
What we had was like jay and beyonce,
Or was it all a dream,
Backseat in the phatom,
Sippin that lean
We party like rockstars,
We sex like pornstars,
I’ll sex u a million bars.

[Chorus:]
I’m single again,
Back on the prowl,
I thought it was perfect,
I don’t know how,
I’m single again,
Back on the prowl,
I thought it was perfect,
I don’t know how,
I’m single again.

[Verse 2:]
Stop calling me apologizin,
Don’t even start it,
hope u find what u lookin for back on da market
Lets agree to disagree,
Don’t explain shit to me,
I got my own money,
Theres nobody,
I need I need I need my own space,

I’m single again,
Whos who I’m minglin wit,
Ball players center seats 2 the game,
Ring side still doin my thing,
Changed my number,
Switched my cars up,
6 months since you maxed your cards up,
It all started so promising,
Got my own diamonds,
Got my own damn promise ring.

[Chorus:]
I’m single again,
Back on the prowl,
I thought it was perfect,
I don’t know how,
I’m single again,
Back on the prowl,
I thought it was perfect,
I don’t know how,
I’m single again.

[Verse 3:]
Hold up,
Wait a god damn minute,
It ain’t over till I say we finished,
Till I get my half,
Then I sit back, relax, and just laugh,
At the times we shared like flying over a beamor high in the G-4
Smokin on cali bud,
Thats how real G’s show a bitch cali love,
Sex in the cock pit,
No love I was just another object,
You fell in love wit my ass,
King magazines you fell in love wit my ad
20 G’s in the prada bags,
And I’m bout ball till
I fall out
Had to get my mind right back in the lime light
Fellas!

[Chorus:]
I’m single again,
Back on the prowl,
I thought it was perfect,
I dont know how,
I’m single again,
Back on the prowl,
I thought it was perfect,
I dont know how,
I’m single again.

Diamond princess,
Ya, I’m still the baddest bitch
hahahahaha.

SotD: Mariah Carey - Through the Rain

Posted by: Lilo Lale on: March 10, 2008

The video for “Through the Rain” always makes me a little weepy eyed. It’s a touching song even if you just focus on the lyrics. Very inspirational.

Personally, I haven’t given up on my dreams. I know I will be where I want to be someday, but it’s hard waiting for someday to come. No matter how much we try, we can’t control everything. Things just have to run their course.

When you get caught in the rain, with nowhere to run
When you’re distraught and in pain, without anyone
When you keep crying out to be saved
But nobody comes and you feel so far away
That you just can’t find your way home
You can get there alone
It’s okay, what you say is

[chorus]
I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again, on my own
And I know that I’m strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid, I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day
And I make it through the rain

And if you keep falling down, don’t you dare give in
You will arise safe and sound
So keep pressing on steadfastly
And you’ll find what you need to prevail
What you say

[chorus]
I can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again, on my own
And I know that I’m strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid, I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day
And I make it through the rain

And when the wind blows
As shadowsI can make it through the rain
I can stand up once again, on my own
And I know that I’m strong enough to mend
And every time I feel afraid, I hold tighter to my faith
And I live one more day
And I make it through the rain

I can make it through the rain
And stand up once again
And I live one more day and night
And I can make it through the rain
(Oh yes you can)
You’re gonna make it through the rain grow close, don’t be afraid
There’s nothing you can’t face
And sure they tell you, you’ll never pull through
Don’t hesitate, stand tall and say, yeah

[chorus]

DST, Spring Break, and Dating

Posted by: Lilo Lale on: March 9, 2008

So my clock says it’s 7:47, but it doesn’t feel like it. It’s hard when the time changes. I feel so out of place right now. It’s weird. It’ll be great when I get off work tomorrow though. Technically, I won’t get off early, but it will feel like it.

Friday night, my friend and I went out on the beach to a local club. It had been a while since I’d really been in that setting, but I had a blast. There were a lot of spring breakers, and I met some fun guys. It was weird hanging out with 21 yr olds though. I don’t usually do that. I’m almost 26 1/2. I drank a lot though and although I didn’t do anything really really really bad.. I did do some things that I kind of wish I hadn’t. Damn the alcohol!

Speaking of men.. I’ve decided I need to open myself up to the dating scene. I’ve been single for quite a while now, and I know I’m to blame. I used to be very insecure, and I pretty much shut myself off from other people. The fear of rejection thing combined with low self esteem. But that was the OLD me. I previously wrote about how I had an ”a ha!” moment. So things are much better now. I’m happy with me!

But yes.. I’m ready to get out there again which means I will need to get out more. It will be fun.

SotD: Fiona Apple - Criminal

Posted by: Lilo Lale on: March 8, 2008

Why did I choose this song? Mainly for the opening lyrics “I’ve been a bad bad girl.” Let’s just say I had a good Friday night. :-) But Criminal is a great song. I never got into Fiona Apple though. I think her music was too advanced for me at the time. I liked her lyrics, but I was more into NSYNC and Backstreet Boys I’m ashamed to say.

I’ve been a bad, bad girl
I’ve been careless with a delicate man
And it’s a sad, sad world
When a girl will break a boy
Just because she can

Don’t you tell me to deny it
I’ve done wrong and I wanna suffer for my sins
I’ve come to you cause I need guidance to be true
And I just don’t know where I can begin
Ooh, Ooh, Ooh

What I need is a good defense
‘Cause I’m feelin’ like a criminal
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I’ve sinned against
Because he’s all I ever knew of love

Heaven help me for the way I am
Save me from these evil deeds before I get them done
I know tomorrow brings the consequence at hand
But I keep livin’ this day
Like the next will never come

Oh help me, but don’t tell me to deny it
I’ve got to cleanse myself
Of all these lies ’til I’m good enough for him
I’ve got a lot to lose
And I’m bettin’ high so I’m beggin’ you
Before it ends
Just tell me where to begin
Yeah

What I need is a good defense
‘Cause I’m feelin’ like a criminal
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I’ve sinned against
Because he’s all I ever knew of love

Let me know the way
Before there’s hell to pay
Give me room to lay the law and let me go
I’ve got to make a play
To make my lover stay
So what would an angel say
The devil wants to know

What I need is a good defense
‘Cause I’m feelin’ like a criminal
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I’ve sinned against
Because he’s all I ever knew of love

What I need is a good defense
‘Cause I’m feelin’ like a criminal
And I need to be redeemed
To the one I’ve sinned against
Because he’s all I ever knew of love

Ooh
Ooh
Uh
Uh
Uh

Aah
Aah
Aah

SotD: Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten

Posted by: Lilo Lale on: March 6, 2008

It’s a wonder that I didn’t make this the song of the day sooner. It has been my anthem for almost a year (about 10 months). What’s not to love? The lyrics are empowering and very inspirational. Today, don’t worry about the past. Just think about where you’re going.

I am unwritten, can’t read my mind, I’m undefined
I’m just beginning, the pen’s in my hand, ending unplanned

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you can not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

I break tradition, sometimes my tries, are outside the lines
We’ve been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can’t live that way

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you can not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten

Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you can not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inhibitions

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins

Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
Drench yourself in words unspoken
Live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten
The rest is still unwritten

Running On Empty

Posted by: Lilo Lale on: March 5, 2008

Lately, I feel like I’m not giving enough to this blog. I want to give more, but I’ve been really tired. I’ve considered not posting anymore, but I don’t want to do that. I enjoy it.

Musically, I’m beginning to run on empty. I’ve become very mainstream which isn’t bad.. But I love discovering new and different musicians. I’ve decided it’s time for me to get back to the basics and get in touch with that part of me again.

So… I’m going to start writing about music more.
